Blank staves, ready for notation.
Manuscript paper with evenly spaced five-line staves, drawn at a size that leaves room for noteheads, stems and lyrics without crowding. Available as single staves or braced grand staves for keyboard writing.
3 spacings, two paper sizes
Every sheet is drawn as vector geometry at an absolute measurement. Print at 100% scale and the spacing on the paper is the spacing on the label.
What it is for
- Composing and arranging by hand
- Music theory exercises and sight-reading practice
- Transcribing by ear
- Writing out parts for rehearsal
Print at 100% scale
This is the one setting that matters. Choosing “fit to page” rescales the sheet and the spacing no longer matches the label — a 5 mm grid comes out at 4.7 mm and every measurement taken from it is wrong. Set scale to 100% and pick the paper size that matches your printer. The print guide covers the rest.
Common questions
How many staves should a page have?
Ten if you are sketching in pencil and want room to write lyrics or chord symbols beneath each line. Twelve if you are making a fair copy and want more bars per page.
What is a grand staff?
Two staves joined by a brace, played together — conventionally treble for the right hand and bass for the left. It is the standard layout for piano and other keyboard music.
Are the staves the right size?
The staves are drawn with a rastral size close to standard printed sheet music, so noteheads written by hand at a normal size sit correctly between the lines.
